Vault Mapping – Optovue (Category: Scleral Lens Fitting, New Feature) Optomap recently announced the release of their Vault Mapping technology currently available for all iSeries OCT systems. As stated by the manufacturer, this design is a unique combination of "deposit protection and longer-lasting lens surface moisture." Alcon is attempting to address these two factors by bringing together their SmartShield ® Technology and HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix. AIR OPTIX ® plus HydraGlyde is currently only available to a limited number of accounts. The full product launch is expected in February 2017. The lens will be featured in an 8.6 base curve and a 14.2 diameter. The lens power availability is from +8.00 to -12.00. The lens has been approved in an extended wear modality (up to six nights). Art Optical has extended the ability of this 16.5mm GP lens by now providing a new front surface – center near simultaneous vision multifocal option. This design offers an ADD of +1.00 to +3.50 in 0.25 steps. The center add zone is available from 1.00 to 4.00mm. The lens also has an added Quadrant Specific Control Technology feature. With this design feature, practitioners can manage up to four quadrants independently. As indicated by Art Optical, this will allow fitters to compensate for various causes of scleral asymmetry including pterygia, pingueculas and limbal scars.
